Distraction Therapy – Space for Disengagement

Distraction Therapy – Space for Disengagement

Rob Watson is the host of Distraction Therapy, a developing programme on Thursday’s from 11pm on Soar Sound. Rob aims to provide listeners with a therapeutic escape from the pressures and stresses of daily life. Through a curated mix of music, literature, and discussions on art and culture, Rob wants to encourage listeners to momentarily disengage from their task-oriented routines and engage with content that promotes relaxation and mental well-being.

This programme recognises the importance of mental health and the need for balance in our fast-paced society. By offering a space for listeners to experience moments of disengagement, Distraction Therapy aims to foster a sense of calm and rejuvenation. Rob said, “As much for my own wellbeing as anything, I would like to encourage listeners and contributors to the programme to explore and appreciate the arts as a source of comfort and inspiration, supporting a more mindful and balanced approach to living”.

In essence, Distraction Therapy seeks to enrich the mental experience of our listeners by providing an auditory haven that not only entertains, but also contributes positively to their overall well-being. Rob said, “we are often expected to process a lot of information when we engage with our media, so this is about creating a space where we can listen and daydream, as we hear sounds and music that explores different moods.”
