Muso’s Disco – Thursdays 9-11pm
About a decade ago, a couple of friends and I ran a club night in Oxford. Our aim was to provide a space for those who were growing old disgracefully to go out dancing without feeling like the oldest person in the room. We had a small but faithful following of thirty-somethings, not quite ready to put their slippers on. Our music policy was diverse; the three of us had quite different tastes, so we opted to play a bit of everything. Our faithful following liked being kept on their toes, as we jumped and flitted between musical genres.
With Muso’s Disco, my late-night show on Soar Sound, I endeavour to adopt a similar policy with my playlist, both to reflect the vibrant diversity of music across geographical and genre borders and to celebrate the excitement of new musical discoveries. You can expect to hear a bit of everything, an eclectic smorgasbord of sounds, from indie and rock, to dance and electronic, to disco and punk, to hip hop and jazz, to funk and soul. I also like to try and play music from around the world. While lots of the focus is on new music, I also dedicate some shows to specific themes (suggestions are always welcome).
This is a show for musos; sure. But it is also a show for anyone who loves to explore music of all shape and colour. Come and have a listen.
